New application - Google Spreadsheet - cool!
After Ochie (my forever fangirl and travel buddy) published her list, I decided to copy and listed down mine. My old numbers are not correct because I seem to have titles that I have a copy of but have not seen yet. Too many dvds, too little time and it's been 5 years since I caught the Asian entertainment bug!!
Plus, I already listed down the movies I watched so that it's one reference and updating whenever. Obviously after work, the next thing that occupied my waking hours would be dramas.
My Updated Numbers:
Japanese - 132
Taiwan - 27
Korean - 31
Hongkong/Mainland - 11
Check out the titles here:

I was prepared NOT to hear any about any of my fandoms when I left for my Middle East holiday last May 18th so I brought my Ipod to keep me company.
On my 2nd day here, I was on a desert safari when my japanese fandom caught up with me at the most unexpected time. Our cool and kick-ass driver Fahd who I wanted to kill at that time was dune bashing like crazy whenever he hears me scream. He also has this habit of pumping up the volume of the car stereo with all sorts of music from hip hop to arabic hop (which is surprisingly nice to my ears..). On one terrifying but adrenaline trick he did (which was leave the 4x4 hanging face down in the sand dune), I was hanging on to dear life and just to be mean asked him this question..
Me: "Fahd you bad boy you, if you're going to kill me with this thing put some japanese music on!"
Fahd: "You want japanese music? I have!"
And he proceeds to tinker with his Ipod. He pumped the volume and then swooped down the 10 feet or something desert sand with guess what? SMAP's Tabun Alright!!! The bad-assed guy from Kuwait and now lives in Dubai had tons of SMAP music in his IPOD.
Then while shopping for omiyages (gifts) for my nephews at a Toy Store in the Mall of the Emirates (one of their biggest shopping malls), I was patiently waiting to pay for my purchases when I stopped and couldn't believe what I was hearing on their store music blasting loudly - F4's Can't Help Falling In Love With You!!! Imagine my surprise when I heard the chinese words! Hahaha!!
Since I am into a tri-nation fandom..I am waiting what Korean fandom will chase me here.

So I'm still at it. Watching Mike He dramas. I just finished watching his latest drama called Dou Niu Yao Bu Yao? / Bullfighting. Again, the drama kept me glued up to the 17th episode. I also liked the chemistry of Mike and Hebe as well as the Mike and Rainie team up.
What I did not expect was catching my jaw drop whenever I see a close up of Lei Wei. First time to see him in a drama. Did not realize he is gorgeous too. Not as gorgeous as Mike but a jawdropper nevertheless.
One of the things that I realized (actually it is the closet Mike fan Ochie that pointed it out to me) was that many scenes during the first half of the drama were MG'esque. Meaning, they resemble scenes from Meteor Garden, which really gave me goosebumps.
Since I am a technosaurus, the proof of my addiction is when I take the time to do screen captures.
These guy has one of the most expressive eyes...
But like I said, Lee Wei looked so cool and uber fashionable in the drama. Kudos to his stylist!
Pensive Shen Ruo He (and the 5 o'clock shadow...), Mike's character in the drama.
With of course a pensive Jin Zi Cong (I love his color!), Lee Wei's character in the drama.

Whenever I am not working I am currently pre-occupied...more like obsessed... with Mike He Jun Xiang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_He). In quick succession, I watched his dramas from Devil Beside You, Love Contract and Why Why Love. I am now just waiting for my copy of Bullfighting.
Not only was I drama obsessed, I am also music video obsessed. Through searching for fanmade videos on the subject of Mike, I stumbled on these beautifully made videos with his dramas as background.

I know reasons...hahaha! But well I am prepared to queu and chase with a bunch of crackers and chocolates for sustenance.

With my busy work schedule, I have not had the chance to watch any dramas from my tri-nation favorite (Japan-Korea-Taiwan..hehe).
The only fangirling activity I had was ooohhing and ahhing over the Hero Official book that my friend VIC brought over from Japan. That was last month yo!!!
I wonder what doramas would be interesting this fall? And when will I finally get to watch Hana Kimi Taiwan? It's already gathering dust somewhere. Hahahaha!

I have just finished watching Sunflower, the movie starring Kim Rae Won as Taesik, an ex-con who has changed and is trying to redeem himself by being a good son and brother.
Even if I did not like Kim Rae Won, this movie would have made an impression still. The movie does not have a unique plot but the acting was so well done. Rae Won's "look" was deglamorized and he was effective in action scenes the same way he is effective in romantic comedies and dramas.
Parallelisms with Kimura Takuya's Love and Honor (Bushi no Ichibun) came to my mind as I watched and I could not form sentences to describe what I think about the movie. I could only remember the "words" tha popped out of my head and here are some of them together with screen caps.
Beauty that shines through
Rae Won was made to look more mature but his beauty still shines through the hair cut, the hunched shoulders and the nondescript clothes.
Awesome portrayal

And here's the saddening proof. That girl is a starlet who acted as a bargirl/stripper in the movie (the unfortunate roles of Filipinas in foreign films...). I wonder when this will be announced officially in Japan?
Anyway, Ricky Lo is a very prominent showbiz writer in Manila and is always one of those who have early scoops. He has interviewed many artists doing asian promotions of their movies. I should stalk him if he is going to be the one interviewing the cast of this movie someday!
